Nature Shop – Charitable Donations
Along with our commitment to environmentally friendly business practices we feel we have an obligation to contribute to the well being of our society and in particular the next generation. With this in mind we have initiated a program of financial support for charities. We currently are corporate sponsors of two charitable foundations that both make a huge difference to the children and young people that they support. We are committed to growing our charitable donations program and will be adding to the list of charities we support
@Heart (say: at heart) is the only organisation in New Zealand dedicated to providing life long support to the 12 babies born every week in New Zealand with a heart condition, and those who acquire a childhood heart condition as a result of rheumatic fever, cardiomyopathy or Kawasaki disease. These children and their families need practical (@) and emotional (©) support to help them cope with the day-to-day challenges of living with a childhood heart condition. That’s what @Heart is here for. We are here every step of the way – from the time of diagnosis, through childhood, the teenage years, and into adulthood. The services we provide include information, training, counselling and psychological support, specialised equipment, camps, family matching, social affiliation, and financial assistance. Visit www.heartnz.org.nz for more information.
CanTeen is a not-for-profit organisation supporting young people aged 13-24 living with cancer. The organisation was formed over 20 years ago to ensure that no young New Zealander has to go through a cancer experience alone.CanTeen believes that young people, through meeting, talking and sharing their experiences are better able to cope with the uncertainties of living with cancer. Their mission is to support, develop and empower their members whether they are young cancer patients, siblings or bereaved siblings, by providing a national support peer network offering professional educational and recreational programmes. CanTeen doesn’t receive any government funding and are therefore totally reliant on the generosity of individuals, the community and corporate partners. Nature Shop Mt Maunganui has recognised CanTeen as a worthy charity and is committed to supporting the local Bay of Plenty region as a Corporate Partner with an annual $10,000 donation.
