I had these shoes on my feet for 9 months during a motorbike trip around SE Asia (9 countries). We (4 of us had Keen) used them pretty much everywhere: mountain/rock climbing; waterfalls; mud; rain; hot/cold; forests; beaches; snoorkling; long/short trekking etc. The only slight downside was that while descending sideways from steep rocks you get a feeling like your foot's moving too much to sides and straps don't hold it firmly so you have to be careful a bit. Where glued on both sides gaps appeared due to long usage in salty water while snoorkeling on average 3-4 hours for 25 days in total (my Sea-to-Summit backpack also broke because of that). It was an easy fix with superglue or similar. Even though the shoes had gaps on sides they were still usable.
My friend who came back home after 7 months returned his and got a new pair!

an excellent sandal that is warm enough to wear on dry winter days.
my only complaint is that the heels wear out long before the uppers. I have got through atleast 8 pairs in 5 years.
these are the best multi purpose sandals i have experienced. I wear them around the house, in the garden, dog walking, driving, shopping, travelling on aeroplanes, hill walking.
the only pastimes i dont do with them are swimming and skiing
